It was a very short drive to Rockin R Ranch. It was camping, but it was in the city. The hosts were gracious enough to provide music for us until 11pm. All kidding aside, there was a wedding reception being held on the other end of the property.
Jayden, Andrew, Evan, and Dallin provided the spiritual messages for the night. We talked about avoiding temptation, tithing, and the straight and narrow path. Good job, boys!

Chess Merit Badge - February 18th & 25th
Brother Marc Hardy was kind enough to lend his skills to the Boy Scouts and teach us Chess strategy. I've heard it said playing chess everyday will raise your IQ. I know I could use a few more points added to mine. The final requirement to earn the chess merit badge is to compete in a chess tournament. Troop 980 is hosting our own and the first round is in the books. See the bracket, below.
Baking Cookies and Visiting Deacons - February 11th
The boys decided it would be a good idea to bake cookies and take them to the Deacons we haven't seen on Sundays or Wednesdays for awhile. Our Troop Historian, Andrew Scott, captured the activity through his eyes and camera skills. The cookies looked a bit odd, but they were delicious.
