The 11 year olds scouts invited the Deacons on a campout to the Peppersauce Caves in Oracle, AZ. We also joined with the 11 year olds and Deacons from the Bella Vista ward. It got cold Friday night so we added what wood and cardboard we could to keep the fire going. Looks like one of the boxes was for a baby tricycle (ha). Before going to bed we also had a testimony/thought sharing fireside. Many of the boys spoke about how nice it can be when we get away from all the distractions in life and are able to focus on the more important things.
One gospel analogy I hope the boys don't forget was discussed Friday night and again in the caves the next morning to bring it to life. Without a flashlight in the caves it's pitch dark. You can't even see your hand in front of your face. It was the flashlights that enabled us to navigate the winding up and down passages through the caves. Some of the slopes were muddy and slippery and some were quite small. The analogy we derived is that the flashlight is like the Holy Ghost. We need the be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Ghost if we are to avoid Satan's firey darts he throws at us throughout our lives. Also, the flashlight can be likened to the light of Christ the leads and guides us.
