We didn't quite make the formal night hike with Ranger Mark, but we improvised and went on our own night hike. Scorpions were abudant. Thank goodness for black lights! Besides the anxiousness (for the adults) the scorpions provided, we enjoyed hot dogs over the fire, smores, and a game of Lucky.
The morning came early, as usual, and we had multiple chefs busy cooking bacon, sausage, pancakes, and...honey buns (huh!). After packing up camp, we made our way up the Clay Mine Trail. The hike was about 1/2 a mile. We couldn't go in, but we took some good pictures. If you look closely, you can see a bat flying in the cave! There's quite a history to the old Mine, most interestingly, a scheme that allowed the owners of the Mine to get rich by selling a cure-all medicine they claimed to have found.
Another successful campout for Troop 880.
